The Contemporary Mass Ensemble serves the parish by providing uplifting and dynamic music at the 12:00 PM Mass on the fourth Sunday of each month. This ensemble brings a fresh musical expression to the liturgy, blending reverence with modern musical styles that speak to the hearts of today’s worshippers.
The ensemble features contemporary Catholic songs—many of which are not found in the standard parish hymnal. These selections often include pieces by composers who write for today’s Church. The style ranges from reflective prayer songs to upbeat praise music, always selected to complement the readings of the day and the liturgical season.
The ensemble welcomes:
Singers (melody & harmony)
Guitarists (acoustic & electric)
Bass guitarists
Pianists & keyboardists
Drummers & percussionists
Violinists and other instrumentalists
Previous experience is helpful but not always required. What matters most is a willingness to serve, consistent attendance, openness to learning, and a heart for worship.
The goal of the Contemporary Ensemble is not performance—but prayerful leadership. We strive to:
Lead the assembly in sung prayer
Deepen the participation of the congregation
Offer music that connects faith, scripture, and everyday life
Encourage young adults, teens, and families to engage in the liturgy
Help make the 12:00 PM Mass a place of welcome, energy, and renewed faith
Rehearsal times vary depending on the season, but typically take place a week before the scheduled Mass and again on Sunday prior to the liturgy. Parts, recordings, and song lists are shared digitally to help musicians practice at home.
Participating in this ensemble offers:
A faith-centered musical community
Opportunities for musical and spiritual growth
Experience in contemporary Catholic liturgical music
A way to serve the parish joyfully and creatively
A chance to use your talents for something meaningful
Many members describe this ensemble as a place of fellowship, prayer, and artistic expression. It is also an excellent entry point for those who want to get involved in music ministry but may not feel ready for a traditional choir.
