The Presentation Handbell Choir is a joyful and welcoming ensemble dedicated to enhancing our parish worship through the unique beauty of handbell music. This seasonal choir plays at Christmas, Easter, and other special liturgical celebrations, as well as at parish concerts and community events. The choir brings a festive and reverent spirit to our worship, offering music that inspires prayer, reflection, and celebration.
No prior handbell experience is required to participate. Members come from a variety of musical backgrounds—some have sung in choirs, some have played instruments in the past, and some are simply eager to learn something new.
While music-reading skills are helpful, they are not mandatory; we provide training during rehearsals and offer support for anyone still learning. All that is truly needed is:
A willingness to learn
Commitment to rehearsals and scheduled Masses
A collaborative spirit
The desire to glorify God through music
Handbells add a distinct musical color to the liturgy. Their rich tones, shimmering resonance, and precise ensemble playing make them especially suited for solemn feasts and joyful celebrations. The sound is both communal and contemplative—each person plays just one or two notes, yet together they create music that is greater than the sum of its parts. This offers a powerful example of the faith community in action: individual gifts united for a shared purpose.
Members can expect:
Seasonal rehearsals (usually 4–6 weeks per liturgical season)
Clear guidance, teaching, and training
A supportive and encouraging atmosphere
Occasional parish concerts and special events
The opportunity to serve the parish in a meaningful way
The rehearsal structure focuses on:
Learning handbell technique
Ensemble coordination and timing
Basic rhythm and musical reading
Liturgical preparation for Mass
Prayer and fellowship
